Fentanyl and PPE
Fentanyl/Opioids and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
The attached documents have been prepared with consideration of experiences in other Provinces, front line care workers experience. There is reference to best and promising practices known at this time for the protection of front line workers with respect to Fentanyl and Opioid use by others.
One document includes a Fentanyl and Opioid Risk Framework for Healthcare Workers. It is important to note that the recommendations cover examples of common exposures but are not intended to prescribe PPE for every responder or exposure or discuss all PPE options. In all cases, the employers must identify hazards to which their workers might be exposed and provide appropriate PPE to protect them.
